Most athletes focus on the game they are playing. However, for junior Adrian Bobrowski, the photographer sitting behind the screen during Bobrowski’s hockey games stole his attention, creating inquiry for the career, Bobrowski said.
Bobrowski began shooting last summer to create content for the South community, including photos for The Oracle and game day ads that athletes appreciate, he said.
“Players ask me to come to their games and appreciate me for taking their photos,” Bobrowski said.
Bobrowski’s career is flourishing, he said. Northwestern University offered him a part time job photographing men’s volleyball. A designated Chicago Blackhawks photographer also gave Bobrowski the chance to photograph the Blackhawk’s center Connor Bedard on Sep. 28. He accessed the lower level by the glass when a security guard let him in through the locked front door, Bobrowski explained.
“The Blackhawks [experience] showed me how far I’ve come as a photographer and how much potential there is to keep growing,” Bobrowski said.
Bobrowski hopes to continue photography at a D1 college, he said. His experience as a photographer has taught him vital skills that will allow his career to succeed in the future, Bobrowski said.
“I learned that networking is about building genuine connections and being part of a creative community opens doors to opportunities that I’m experiencing right now,” Bobrowski said.
