Nominees selected for Illinois High School Art Exhibition

The following seven pieces of student art were selected by visual art teachers at South to be a part of the Ilinois High School Art Exhibition (IHSAE) competition. The event will be held at Bridge- port Art Center in Chicago on Sunday, April 19 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. to celebrate students’ talent.

Junior Josie Nguyen created this drawing for the National Art Honors Society with the theme of reflection. Taking mirror sel- fies and experimenting with filters, Nguyen settled on one that changed her reflection to color, leaving herself in black and white. The filter inspired her drawing, with the colored reflection symbolizing her soul when she creates art, Nguyen said.
