Bob Wysocki, The Oracle Adviser was named the 2025 Nancy Becker Newspaper Adviser of The Year by the Kettle Moraine Press Association (KEMPA). The award will be presented at KEMPA’s annual conference on Oct. 16.
Wysocki was nominated by David Adamji, English Department Instructional Supervisor, in June, and was notified that he won this award in August, Wysocki said.
“I was blown away [receiving the award],” Wysocki said.
The award is for advisers who go above and beyond in their teaching and advising, ensuring students are learning in a productive and healthy way, Kristen Porter, The Etruscan Adviser, said.
Wysocki is a mentor to Porter, and has helped her learn the basics of advising a publication, Porter said.
“I would describe Wysocki as a mentor who is extremely generous with his time and patience,” Porter said.
Wysocki is always proud of his students when they receive awards and recognition, so he was grateful to receive an award for himself, Wysocki said.
“I come to work every day because I love doing it,” Wysocki said. “I love being the newspaper adviser because I love to see the things kids create.”
Not only has Wysocki supported The Oracle in becoming one of the strongest hybrid publications in the country, but supports his students in every way possible, Adamji said.
“What makes Wysocki stand out is his unwavering belief in what students can accomplish, not just as journalists, but as people,” Adamji said.
