Toyota Corolla Hybrids from Toyota of Lincolnwood were selected to replace South’s 2015 Toyota Priuses used in Driver’s Education classes, according to the District 225 School Board.
Because the cars were begining to decline in functions, they needed to be replaced, the School Board said.
Eight other dealerships competed for the schools bussiness, however the School Board awarded the bid to Toyota of Lincolnwood, the School Board said. The vehicles cost $205,528, but the school was able to trade in the exsisting fleet for $118,800, resulting in a cost of $86,728 for the cars, the School District said.
The school board included the estimated fuel cost when evaluating the different car models.
It is estimated that South will receive the new fleet in August 2024, before the first day of school, the District 225 School Board said.
