Colleges and universities across the country are being forced to end their Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) programs in order to continue to receive federal funding, AP News reported. Following President Donald Trump’s executive orders to end DEI practices around the country, higher education institutions have had to change the way they recruit and support their students, especially those of color, AP News reported.
Many universities are not complying with the order. The president of Antioch University said that he believes many colleges and universities will not comply with the order. Additionally, the president of Western Michigan University told his campus to proceed on as normal, AP News reported.
Additionally, Trump’s Department of Education has launched a portal for students and their families to report discrimination based on race or sex in publicly funded schools, AP News reported. The department will use submissions to identify target schools to be investigated, AP News reported.
