Playing my sport in college has always been a dream of mine. Since I was eight years old and a swimmer, I knew I wanted to be a
student athlete at the collegiate level. Then, when I switched to volleyball when I was 11, I didn’t know if I could ever reach the level to be able to play in college.
Coming in as a freshman I didn’t think that I would ever get to the level where, I could play on varsity. I had been diagnosed with scoliosis and didn’t know what the future held. As I watched the current varsity team, I didn’t know if my skills would even be enough to play at such a competitive school like South.
Little did I know that two years, hundreds of hours of scoliosis exercise, and hard work I would be a starter on varsity.
My time with South volleyball (GVB) has left me with so many memories, friends, and four years of amazing volleyball. I am very grateful for the opportunity to have been a part of this great program and for all of the coaches I have had on each level of GVB
that have played an integral part in my development as a player.
Being able to continue playing volleyball for Carthage College in Wisconsin is such a blessing. I’m so excited to be able to work harder and grow even more as a player. I feel so lucky to have found a school with not only great academics for my major, but one with an incredible volleyball program and culture that I now get to be a part of. I can’t wait for all the memories I will make with my new team and to see how I will change and grow as a player and a person.
