The 2026 Olympics took place in Italy, with moutain events taking place in Cortina, and other events taking place in Milan. 10 out of the approximatly 2,900 athlete competeing have ties to the Chicago area, NBC Chicago reported.

Notably, speed skater Ethan Cepuran was born, raised, and currently resides in Glen Ellyn, additionally speed skater Emery Lehman was born in Chicago and currently resides in Oak Park, NBC Chicago reported.

Lehman, Cepuran, and their teammate Casey Dawson, received a silver medal in speed skating men’s team pursit. Previously, the team held the world record and world championship but fell short to the Italians, NBC Chicago reported.
