Lollapalooza Lineup Review

Layla Mohamed and Maya Scahill

The annual four-day international music festival Lollapalooza will not only feature lively headliners such as Lana Del Rey and Kendrick Lamar, but will also include food, merchandise, vendors, and fans from across the country on Aug. 3-6.

Alex G

Although less popular than the other performers at Lollapalooza, many people are sure to recognize some of Alex G’s songs from TikTok like “Mary” and “Treehouse”. His songs are a genre of lo-fi pop combining soft vocals with strong melodies and dramatic performance style. Hopefully Alex G’s performance at Lollapalooza will give him the listeners he deserves and give fans an opportunity to appreciate his lesser known songs.

Kendrick Lamar

Who doesn’t love Kendrick Lamar? One of the most anticipated headliners coming to Lollapalooza, Lamar will be performing at the festival for the first time in ten years. Lamar will be an exceptional opener on Aug. 4. Lamar is also regarded as a wordsmith, with memorable verses that have gone viral on the internet. At his concerts, the crowd’s chants make for memorable, interactive concert experiences, making his Lollapalooza set a highly anticipated event.

Lana Del Rey

Lana Del Rey is no stranger to Lollapalooza, as she has performed at seven of their festivals throughout the world. Del Rey will headline the final night of the festival. She will definitely bring in an enthusiastic crowd, especially since she has performed rarely in past years. We hope to see a variety of songs that will have everyone dancing along.

NewJeans

NewJeans makes history as they become the first K-POP girl group to perform at Lollapalooza. The fast-rising group’s fans are eager to see them perform and have already displayed anticipation on various forms of social media. The group has found themselves a distinct sound in K-POP, gearing towards the mainstream market. One of their most popular songs, “OMG,” is sure to excite the crowd later this summer.

The 1975

The highly-acclaimed English pop-rock band known for catchy melodies, evocative lyrics, and dynamic performances, make them the perfect indie stage to make headlines at Lollapalooza this year. The 1975 live shows will bring energy and passion, and with performances of their songs “Chocolate”, “The Sound”, and “Love If We Made It”, fans can expect an unforgettable experience.
