Year in review

It’s been quite a year, hasn’t it GBS? Seeing that this is the last issue of The Oracle I felt that it is right to do a little year in review. The school year kicked off in August with GBS’ 50th birthday celebration. We got to look inside a time capsule left by students 25 years ago. Then came…

September. A young, active hotshot columnist joined The Oracle force, and his name was Chris Altonji. I also joined.

In the sports world, GBS played GBN in football for the first time in many years, and like before, we kicked their little Spartan butts. After the football game, we moved into the month of…

October. Homecoming was very special because GBS started doing morning video announcements. My favorite part about the video announcement was that hot funny stud muffin who asked girls to Homecoming. Oh wait, that was me. After Homecoming the next interesting thing came during the month of…

November. GBS did their second 24-hour telethon to raise money for Youth Services. It was kicked off with a really cool lip dub. It had everything: horses, helicopters and co-sports editor Peter Montesantos bernie-ing. Later in the month GBS came to bat again for the canned food drive and exceeded our goal in that. And with that, we will go into…

December. Another group of GBS students stayed at school overnight–for 30 hours this time. GBS radio students celebrated WGBK’s 30 years on the air. Thirty students and Doc Oswald stayed to broadcast during the first day of winter break. Once winter break ended we came back to school in …

January. Well, except for Manuary and finals, nothing happened in January, so I’m just going to skip ahead. Plus, I’m pretty sure finals were an experience that we all want to forget, so let’s just move on to…

February. The great month of February brought us the V-show which was surprisingly called Gold. I don’t think anybody saw that one coming. The V-show also brought us a second lip dub, showing us once and for all that big extravagant things only get better when you do them again. Once V-show ended we were all ready for…

March. Bomb Day–when an incendiary device was found in a garage can at the hospital. In other words, someone set a fire in a trash can, so GBS closed for a day. GBS partied, while half of GBN got called out. March came in like a lion and out like a lamb and with it came…

April. Midway through the month, the juniors finally passed into adulthood. They took the PSAE. After months of complaining, two days of other classes gloating, and a mixed reaction with scores, it’s all over. And juniors remember, we’re only a few weeks away from being seniors seniors (clap clap clap-clap-clap). And with that we go into…

May. I’m not a doctor, but I know for a fact that in May every senior contracted a horrible disease, Senioritous. There is no known cure for it, so I am afraid they are gone. I think a moment of silence is appropriate. Thank you.

Well there is an entire school year boiled down to nine shorts paragraphs. In the past nine months we laughed, cried and maybe even became a better person. Hopefully, I did the year justice. Good night GBS and good luck.
