In other news: CosMc’s Launches

McDonald’s new alien-themed take-out chain, CosMc’s, began its testing phase in Bolingbrook, IL, earlier this month.

CosMc’s is a beverage-focused, take-out-only restaurant inspired by the nostalgia of McDonald’s in the 80’s, according to CosMc’s website. CosMc’s menu will include new beverages “designed to boost your mood into the stratosphere, if only for a few moments,” according to the McDonald’s press release. The beverages will be completely customizable, with customers being able to add boba, Vitamin C, and other syrups into the drinks.

In addition to the drinks menu, CosMc’s menu will include McDonald’s classic breakfast bites, such as the spicy cheese sandwich, salty hash brown bites, and pretzel bites.

In order to stay competitive with other quickly expanding businesses like Starbucks, McDonald’s is also looking to CosMc’s to extend its menu and service hours, McDonald’s CEO Chris Kempczinski told CBS News.

Cars in Bolingbrook lined up as early as 3:30 am outside CosMc’s. The drive-thru opened at 6 a.m., and 20 cars rolled in with drivers ready to place their orders, a company spokesperson said.

The Bolingbrook location marks the first CosMc’s. If the location proves successful, the company plans to open ten more restaurants in Dallas, Texas, over the next year, according to a McDonald’s spokesperson.

“To think a little over a year ago, this was just an idea,” Kempczinski told CBS. “And this week, we’re opening the first test site. We’re innovating, testing, and learning with speed.”
