College athlete update: 2013 graduate Cam Irwin

Breck Murphy, co-sports editor

Cam Irwin, a 2013 South graduate, currently plays Division III lacrosse for Tufts

University. While at South, Irwin was All -Conference and MVP in 2012 and 2013.

How are you and the team doing so far?

We’re doing very well right now. The new poll just came out and we are ranked ninth in the country.

What are your goals for the rest of your career at Tufts?

The only goal right now is to win four national championships.

What is your favorite memory from this season?

My favorite memory from this season is judgement day. We had two Navy Seals come out and train us for two days in a

row. We had to do drills and team building work that they do during their hell week, such as treading water while taking off

sweat suits.

What do you think of the program at Tufts?

[The] current program is a national power school, so I am pretty excited for our championship aspirations.

When did you know you wanted to continue with lacrosse after your time at South?

I became interested in playing lacrosse in college my sophomore year in high school.

What piece of advice would you give to current South athletes?

The main value South taught me was that I need to work hard every moment to get where I want to be.
