Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul has joined a group of 14 other State Attorneys General to protect gender-affirming care for transgender youth in their state, The Patch reported.
This move comes as the Trump administration recently signed an executive order banning federal funding for gender-affirming care for people under the age of 19, The Patch reported.
In Illinois, the Human Rights Act prohibits healthcare providers from discriminating on the basis of sex, including gender identity, Raoul’s office said.
